For the 1st edition of the Mayan Wind Fest, we expect to get a strong fleet of sailors navigating their way to the top mark in the bay of Cancún. The event will host regattas of Optimist, Laser, Windsurf and Kitefoil in the beautiful wind conditions Cancún has to offer in January.

This year Mayan Wind Fest will be the first of 4 qualifiers Regattas for Optimist that determine the make-up of the teams for the 2024 Optimist North American Championship, South American Championship and for the Optimist World Championship. Additionally, we will have regattas for it ILCA 4.7, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7. Boat transportation will be included for sailors who register before December 15, 2023.*

Sailing in Cancún is awesome. In January, the wind usually blows around 12-25 Knt and the water is warm. The water is pretty flat on the course racing area, with some wind shifts and gusts making racing super interesting. 

We expect to receive Mexican and international sailors at the event.

The event will take place at the great facilities of the sailing club of Puerto Cancún, which offer a fantastic opportunity for parents and followers to watch the racing unfold very close to the beach.
